This reading, held at the Brooklyn Launchpad last Friday, was hosted by Saritha Gateau. The atmosphere was really relaxed here, and it warmed me to see all of the people cosied up with hot cider and music and words.
I felt so moved by the sheer number of people who came out. I’m aware that New York City is notorious for its strong encouragement of the arts, but was not expecting a full house.
I’m honored by all of my friends, both old and new, who came out to support me. It was a joy to have them there, and just in general, I have felt blessed by their sheltering presence in my life these last few months of such difficult transitioning.
